Vacuum relief valves
Vacuum relief valves, also known as vacuum breakers or vacuum vent valves, are safety devices designed to prevent the creation of a vacuum or negative pressure within a closed system or container. These valves are used in various applications to protect equipment, pipelines, tanks, and vessels from the potential adverse effects of vacuum conditions.
Ramén Valves manufacture two types of vacuum relief valves; VAC 100 and VAC 112. These valves are spring operated, with metal to metal seat.
The function of the vacuum relief valves
Process equipment, pipelines and atmospheric storage tanks must be protected against being subjected to an internal vacuum (i.e., pressures below 0 kPag) that is lower than the equipment can withstand. In such cases, Ramén Valves offer vacuum relief valves (also called vacuum vent valves) that are installed and set to open at a predetermined vacuum set pressure limit. This is to admit atmospheric air into the process equipment, pipeline or atmospheric storage tank, to control the amount of vacuum.
Configuring the vacuum pressure with vacuum valves
Our Ramén vaccum valves prevent vacuum in pipes, tanks and containers. They are set to open at a predetermined vacuum set pressure limit. By introducing atmospheric air into the process equipment, pipeline or atmospheric storage tank, the amount of vacuum is safely regulated and controlled.
Protect your equipment with our vacuum valves. Choose between the VAC 100 or VAC 112.
VAC 100 or VAC 112 – what’s the difference?
Our vacuum valves are available in two different designs, VAC 100 and VAC 112. The type of equipment you have, system pressure, accuracy and application requirements will determine which one you should choose.
VAC112 is a vacuum breaker made in stainless steel. The VAC112 is used to protect pipelines and closed containers in steam or fluid system for pressures up to 64 barg.
VAC100 is a vacuum valve for protection of pressure vessels, tanks, digesters, containers, silos, hoppers, piping and other designs that may be exposed to under pressure (by media, cleaning processes, thermal variations, etc). The VAC100 will open automatically when the pressure of gases or vapors goes below 0,85-0,9 bar(a) (can be ordered with other set pressure on request) giving the construction a robust and trusted protection against vacuum that can cause unrepairable damage to any system.
Common applications
Examples of applications include cleaning systems with steam, where there is negative pressure when cooling down after cleaning, or when pumps in the system start and stop causing pressure surges.
